Chatham Islands Black Robins

Did you know that black robins are small, fluffy and they even have a short tail. They also have fierce looking eyes with a greyish blackish beak. The black robins used to be the most rarest bird. There are now 250 Robins left. Black robins live in the Chatham Islands. They eat Grubs, Wetas and insects and they live in the forest. Female Robins lay eggs in a nest and they protect them from pests and predators. These tiny birds can't fly anywhere because they have small wings. They are also 18cm long. The Black Robins Maori name is Toutouwai. It is also endemic to NZ meaning it lived here before us!
