The legend story

One legendary day there was a magnificent forest where peaceful birds lived together. It was full of peace and quiet. All of the colourful birds spoke the same language and ate the same food and sang the same birdsong. Then came the time of quarrelling and all of the birds were screeching. Until the greatest bird of all called Ka, he made it dark and stormy. Ka the greatest bird of all punished the birds and gave them perches and jobs. Ka punished the NZ falcon for nasty behaviour and banished the seagull from the forest. Krikta the kea made the birds all angry because he stole a birdsong, claws and a beak. So Ka gave him no place to live because Krikta already had the best features. Krikta followed Ka all the way to the sky and Krikta's wings turned orangish-red. He had nowhere to live so he had to live in the snowy mountains. Krikta called all the other keas and when the keas got there Krikta tricked them and all the keas were scattered around. Krikta slipped down the mountain as the sun rose and Krikta and his friend Starwing were together and built their own nest.
